We are former Kurdish refugees who had the privilege to resettle in our new home and country, America. We experienced the hardship and challenges to resettle in a new home, learn a new language and build a future for our families. Many refugees, immigrants and Americans from underserved communities face similar challenges in accessing quality education, healthcare and most importantly mentorship opportunities and access to professional networks.
We are blessed to achieve academic and professional success in the medical field since our arrival in early 2000s. We also recognized that the common foundation of our achievements was based on effective mentorship and networking opportunities.
Therefore, we created the Amed Medical Foundation to provide a platform for students from underserved backgrounds to access quality mentorship and networking opportunities and learn about health education and prevention in order to serve their communities.
Our work and impact are featured on national and international platforms including CNN, USA Today, American Heart Association, Emory Magazine, American College of Cardiology news and more.
